Interview with Anne FREDET, PhD in applied mathematics and computer science: new teacher at the GIP CEI / ESLI -ESTI campus

Anne FREDET joined the GIP CEI / ESLI - ESTI campus teaching team on September 1, 2022. We interviewed her to find out more about her background and areas of expertise.

Quel a été votre parcours ces dernières années avant de rejoindre le campus ?

After a doctorate in mathematics, applied mathematics and computer science, I taught at university for around fifteen years. I then took a Master's degree in "Responsable d'établissement éducatif", with a view to becoming a manager in the French education system. After 8 years as head of secondary schools in Brittany, I'm delighted to return to teaching, training and student support.

Qu’est-ce qui vous plaît le plus dans l’enseignement ?

It's stimulating to pass on knowledge to enable students to choose their career path and support the realization of personal projects.

Quels sont vos domaines d’expertise, les matières que vous allez enseigner ?

In the general subjects, there's getting to grips with applications and project management. In technical subjects, I focus on office automation (advanced Excel, VBA, etc.) and data processing (Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, etc.).

Un message à faire passer aux étudiants en cette rentrée ?

What should we tell them? That apprenticeships combine theory and practice, and that we must seize every opportunity to improve our knowledge and skills? That we need to adapt to today's world and look ahead to future professions, thinking about both today's and tomorrow's activities?

I think they already know all that. We can, however, tell them that we'll be at their side to support them throughout their career, and that we're expecting to see many of them on our training courses, because the demand from companies is very real.
